ATMA Zunheboto in collaboration with Department of Soil and Water Conservation, Zunheboto district celebrated World Water Day at Zhekiye village, Zunheboto on March 22.
Zunheboto, March 22 (MExN): ATMA Zunheboto in collaboration with Department of Soil and Water Conservation, Zunheboto district celebrated World Water Day on the theme ‘accelerating change’ on March 22 at Zhekiye village, under Satakha block, Zunheboto.
A press release received here stated that an introduction on the programme was given by Hetoho Y Swu, DSCO&PD ATMA Zunheboto, highlighting on its importance and judicious use of water and the need to preserve water source by retaining the vegetative cover and also the tree line around the water bodies.
The resource person, Er Kaoto Sema, ATM Suruhuto Block, gave a presentation on ‘Per drop, more crop.’ He explained the various irrigation systems and the schemes available in the State. Sema laid emphasis on rain water harvesting and maintaining cover crop to reduce run off around the water sources.
The programme was chaired by Vikaho Chophi, Dy PD, ATMA Zunheboto and saw the participation of village elders, women SHGs and progressive farmers from Satakha block.
