A message for the teachers

Rev. Zhabu Terhüja

The teachers today are much more informed than those of 40 years ago. So as regard to qualification and knowledge, the parents and the society have doubtless confidence on the teachers. On this special occasion we salute the teachers for their effort in the building of the society.

One concern I wish to share is the social aspect of students in the learning process. The time a family spends together are usually at meal times and family prayer.  So most of the time a child spends socially is in the school. Therefore, teacher’s personal influence on the lives of the students is very important. Rather than being a dreaded figure, a teacher can be a respectable and loving personality to the students. Teachers’ social relationship with students is very important. Besides explanation of the textbooks, teachers must be conscious of the spiritual, moral and cultural values and social etiquettes that builts up individual and the society. Building of personality, self-image and leadership is what the schools should ultimately aim. Rules and regulations are very necessary, but to recognize the students as human beings is equally important. Teachers approach and the school rules can either built up or damage the personality of the students.
