Following the hit of ‘Zianmei’ (My Love), an English Rongmei love song, KL Pamei released his much anticipated single ‘Alive’ on April 8 evening. The song is available in all major stores and streaming platforms.

Song of freedom
In a brief interview with The Morung Express, Pamei, who has a huge fan base following his music, said that ‘Alive’ is a song about freedom, freedom from anything that is toxic in life, be it toxic relationships, friendships, thoughts, stress, depression, etc “freedom from anything that stops you from enjoying your life to the fullest.”

Alive again
Sharing about the creative process for the production of the latest song, Pamei said, “When I first wrote the song it came out very sad and depressing which I'm not very used to writing. The whole concept of the song changed when I rewrote it again with a new perspective.”

For this young artist, working on this project has been both fun and exciting. “However,” he adds, “I had restless nights and also went into depression during the process of this project; it surely took a lot of time to get this one done for some uncertain reasons as well.”

“I had to push and fix every piece to make it Alive again and I am so glad I did,” Pamei shares.

Project with friends
Pamei himself wrote and composed the song while it was recorded and produced in Element Indie Records by Kevi Pucho. The script for the video was also written by Kevi Pucho, shot by Toshi Longchar and later on edited by Kohdi Jings.

“It was for the first time that many of my friends were involved in this project,” he added.

Love and passion
In brief, Pamei highlighted that so far his musical journey has been like a rollercoaster ride. “Fun, exciting, at the same time disappointing and stressed out, but it’s all love and passion that drives me into it more and it's been so worth it,” he attests.

For Pamei, the most fulfilling part of being an artist, as he shares is “When someone comes forward and acknowledges me for my music and appreciates how my music has helped them (be it in small or big measures) has always been the most satisfying and fulfilling part of being an artist for me.”

From the heart
Like any authentic artists, Pamei describes his art of music as genuine and honest. “All the songs that I create come from a very genuine place of my heart,” he said.

“It may not all be from my personal life experiences and encounters, but it comes from my imagination of how I view and look love, life and beauty through my lenses,” he added.

Though for many the COVID-19 pandemic threw things out of place, Pamei choose to use the opportunity to build himself as an artist. “It just gave me more time and focus to polish and work on my art, at the same time, I fully shifted into recording and music production,” he said.

As for the question on what is happening next in his musical career, Pamei has announced that he will be working on his EP album very soon and do more of live shows in the days to come.
