Appeal to DC Kohima for Bus Service for UPSC Civils Prelims Exam

Sir,

Each year thousands of UPSC candidates face transportation problems in reaching their far exam centers like Don Bosco Hr Sec School. At any given year, majority of the students rely on public transport. After exam, most of the students reach main town or nearest bus stands by walking.

But this year due to COVID-19, students giving exams are more scattered in many exam centers as compared to previous years. Some of us has got Kohima Science College, Jotsoma as exam centre.

So new problems include no hotels in Jotsoma to stay, no or less taxis due to it being Sunday, social distancing requirements in taxis in the few available on Sunday, need for food and water for candidates during break in Jotsoma centre or any other centre.

Therefore, through your esteemed daily, the candidates appeal to Kohima district administration to arrange adequate paid bus, taxi or scooter service on October 4 for the students giving exam. Otherwise not only the price of taxi fares will shoot up abnormally but the social distancing norms under COVID-19 will not be followed as thousands of candidates try to get the very few taxis available on Sunday.
