Dimapur, October 19 (MExN): Under the series of ADIP (Assistance for Persons with Disabilities) camps, assessment camp for PwDs was held at Dimapur and Chümoukedima from October 11 to 13.

A DIPR report stated that in collaboration with Artificial Limb Manufacturing Corporation (ALIMCO), the camps were jointly organised by District Administration, Chümoukedima; District Disability Rehabilitation Centre (DDRC), Dimapur; National Career Service Centre for Differently Abled, Dimapur; SD Jain Charitable Clinic, Dimapur.

In the light of the Government’s commitment for enabling and empowering PwDs, the scheme provide durable, modern and scientifically manufactured aids and assistive devices to PwDs for promoting their physical, social and psychological rehabilitation, also reducing the effects of disabilities and enhancing their educational and economic potential.

Altogether, a total of 126 PwDs of both the districts were assessed for provision of Assistive Devices like wheelchairs, hearing aids, smartphones for free of cost at a later date. The PwDs were also provided Disability Certificates from the Medical Board, District Hospital, Dimapur and also UDID (Unique Disability ID Card) by the Chief Medical Officer, Dimapur, Dr Imlitemsu Ozukum, MD (PMR) Senior Specialist, In-Charge, District Disability Rehabilitation Centre, Dimapur.
