Mokokchung athletics celebrated World Kids’ Athletics Day at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung on the theme “Believe in your Dreams.”
At the World Kid’s Athletics event in Mokokchung, three age groups competed in four (4) different disciplines which included 30 metres Race, 4 to 7 years, both Boys and Girl, 60 metres Race, 8-11 years, both boys and girls, 80 metres Race, 12-14 years & 200 metres Race for all age categories, Combined.
Around 100 students from both Private and Government schools participated in the event.
The youngest athletes of the event, who were 5 years old were also acknowledged. While addressing the media, the president of Mokokchung Athletics Rongsentoshi said that, it was organised to nurture and encourage the kids from the tender age so that they will be coached and prepared for bigger platforms.
Mokokchung Athletics was formed in the year 2022. Inspite of it being the youngest association in the district, it has participated in three editions of Nagaland Olympic events, have organised coaching camps and half marathons.
