CNCCI calls for state wide business shutdown on Sept 16

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 13 (MExN): The Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CNCCI) has informed that it will impose a state wide business closure on September 16. This comes after the Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) called for a shutdown of businesses in Dimapur on the same day.  A press release from the CNCCI said that its decision to make the shutdown state wide was to show solidarity with the DCCI against multiple taxations by Naga Political Groups and Government agencies.

It further expressed disappointment at the lack of response to the representation submitted to the Chief Secretary, Nagaland by the CNCCI. The memo had demanded an immediate resolution of the multiple taxation issue. It had also called for removal of all forms of tax/fee collected by the civic bodies on items that come under the GST regime which has subsumed all taxes under ‘one nation one tax.”  The CNCCI also demanded immediate implementation of the SARFAESI Act and reservation of nominee representation to municipal towns and ad-hoc town councils from business and trade bodies.  It meanwhile stated that if the government fails to respond even after the one day business shutdown, the CNCCI would step up its agitation.
