Visitors looking at the CD King Memorial Cross located at the top of the hill overlooking Chümoukedima Town on February 1. Located about 3.1 km (mostly uphill) from the Forest Ranger Office, Chümoukedima according to Google maps estimate, the view from the Cross offer a panoramic view of Chümoukedima as well as many parts of Dimapur and surrounding areas on a clear day.  Two other viewing points before reaching the cross also offer more or less similar views. As per the inscription in the memorial, the Cross was erected in memory of CD King, the first American Baptist Missionary “to our land” (the Angamis), arrived in Chümoukedima (then Samaguting) on June 27, 1876. It was constructed by Chümoukedima Village Baptist Church on May 18, 2010 on 13,300 square feet donated by Thepama Clan, Chümoukedima. With the panoramic view as well as historical significance, the site offers visitors both trekking and pilgrimage experiences. (Morung Photo)
