Justification A Refuge For Liars: GPRN/NSCN

A mad dog is generally identified by its uncontrolled aggression against anyone who comes near it. Children in the neighborhood are advised not to go near it lest they get bitten and infected with rabies and other diseases. The owners and fathers in the vicinity are left with no option but to observe its unnatural behavior and take necessary steps to ensure that it does not create terror in the neighborhood. Its aggression leaves no room for owners or dog lovers to appreciate the demonized animal. The inhuman torture of Ahoshe Awomi, Khapur, GPRN/NSCN by one Yarteo Tangkhul is easily comparable to that of a mad dog creating unnecessary situation in a peaceful environment.

Such unreserved brutality during the process of Naga Reconciliation is a bitter reminder that the mad-dog syndrome, which for some time was thought to have been eradicated among IM cadres, is still prevalent. The October 14th incident and the excuse for the same given by the so called MIP is a disgraceful attempt to justify the evil deed using the word ‘mistaken identity’ and ‘Unification’. The October 14 incident is clearly deliberate and pre planned. If the Covenant of Reconciliation has any value to the perpetrators of the crime, they must be answerable to the Naga people. Only in a conflict situation can there be a case of mistaken identity. It is pathetic and foolish for IM, and men like Yarteo Tangkhul, who eat and live in Dimapur on the brows of hardworking Nagas to call a just contribution of Nagas to GPRN/NSCN as illegal taxation. IM’s existence began in 1988; for the rest of the Nagas, freedom struggle had begun four generations earlier!

It is extremely unfortunate that the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR), touted as the only genuine Naga platform in many years, chose to marginalize the inhuman torture of Ahoshe Awomi by IM on 14th Oct 2010. The 6th October incident at Phor Village where one Naga Army officer shot and injured one woman was unfortunate and GPRN/NSCN military officer’s haphazard behavior has been referred to top leadership. While Oct. 14 torture happened at Dimapur, right under the nose of the FNR, perpetrated by a signatory of COR upon member of another, which is a total negation of the COR, the unfortunate incident at Phor Village happened eight days earlier perpetrated by signatory of COR against an unarmed civilian, which in any manner is highly condemnable, yet even a child could point a finger at FNR for trying to please all and displease none. Accepting the gravity of the situation, a rogue must be called a rogue with courage and wisdom. This is what the Naga people ask of FNR. Why did the FNR not condemn Oct. 6th incident right away but chose to do so only after horrific torture picture of 14th Oct. emerged in the media? Was it not to shield the barbarity of Yarteo Tangkhul? GPRN/NSCN acknowledges the arduous task undertaken by the FNR yet at any point of time it would not hesitate to point out deficiencies if the interest of the Nagas is knowingly betrayed.
