Lamentations

Limalenden Longkumer

Yes, it is one of India’s many sinister policies to reduce the ethnic indigenous peoples of the North East Region (NER) to an insignificant minority so that secessionist movements in the region are halted. New Delhi knows it very well that once the indigenous peoples are reduced to a minority, then the struggle for freedom and independence by these colonies will become a mere issue of ethnic identity. If  the Nagas become a minority in their own land, there is mathematical certainty that the issue of Naga sovereignty will come to an end then and there. The universal truth and stand of the Nagas today, that “Nagas are not Indians” will be relegated to a mere question of “Who are the Nagas?”. Thus, New Delhi is encouraging Bangladeshi Demographic Invasion upon Nagaland and the whole NER.

I, for one, have undertaken several painstaking research on the emerging and alarming demographic changes manifest in Nagaland and have come to the conclusion that, given the current trend, we Nagas will be enslaved, consciously or unconsciously, in our own land by the foreigners. Ironically, however, the great mass of the Naga people do not seemingly comprehend the annihilating threat posed by these shrewd Bangladeshi invaders.

Every Naga knows that we were once a free people, and for the cause of this Truth, tens of thousands of true patriotic Naga souls have been lost. Yet, we stand here today, still a colonized people. The Nagas, a people once so free, today lives, nay exists, under the bondage of Indian Colonialism.

Nagaland, being arbitrarily occupied by India, is falling easy prey to foreign invaders from Bangladesh. Nagaland ought to be a nation among nations, but the harsh reality stands that we are being invaded and colonized by the joint forces of India and Bangladesh, militarily and demographically respectively.

The history of the Nagas will be read in the future as Lamentations of a lost people, whose land was militarily occupied by India and demographically invaded by Bangladesh. And posterity shall curse us, the Nagas of the day, rich and mighty, righteous and sinful or weak and poor alike, for being a people without Unity, Patriotism, Integrity and Vision.
