Leadership of integrity sans controversy

• Sir-The Naga Hoho is the common platform where all Nagas from within and outside the present Nagaland state can come together to share ideas, opinions and visions. This is the Apex body of the Nagas. Also this is the only platform for all section of Nagas to voice, discuss and share opinion with the fellow Naga people. The founder Naga leaders of the Naga Hoho has tirelessly worked hard day and night for the welfare and interest of the Nagas and founded this apex body for the naga people. The office of the Naga Hoho was functioning smoothly till the recently concluded Naga Hoho office bearer’s election.

Allegations and counter allegation started right after the election of the present Naga Hoho president Horangse Sangtam and it will always continue till the case is settled once and for all. The Tuensang and Mon Public Otrganization (TMPO) said, ‘we are compelled to abstain from participating in any manner with the Naga Hoho as long as the present President Horangse Sangtam holds office’. Moreover, the Lotha Hoho, a major Naga tribe has cleared their position on 22.7.2005 in the last Naga Hoho Federal Assembly that as long as the present controversial President holds office they will not participate in Naga Hoho. Now, the seven Naga tribes of Nagaland state are not going to participate in any manner with the Naga Hoho till the present president holds office.

As leaders we have to think of what is best for the Nagas and reach this episode into settlement for the interest of the Nagas people without hesitation. Naga tribes should not try to destroy the common house but should protect the house with join efforts. How long can we be kept in this confusion?

The President of Naga Hoho, should have personal integrity, respect and honour by his own tribe and he should not be a controversial person. It is high time we resolved it before it is too late. The constituent Naga tribes should come out and protect the Naga Hoho before it is dismantled.
