Open letter to the Principal Director, H&FW

To

The Principal Director

Directorate of Health & Family Welfare Department

Government of Nagaland

Kohima: Nagaland

Sub: To urgently post a Medical Officer at Akuluto Sub-division.

Dear Sir,

It could come as a shock to you as well to learn that Akuluto sub-division which is one of the oldest under Zunheboto District and in fact, one of the Oldest Primary Health Centers, has no Medical Officer posted yet. I therefore, as a concerned citizen of the said town address to you about this serious concern of the hour for your earnest approval.

That Sir, it has come to my knowledge that soon after the promotion and transfer of the most sincere and dedicated medical officer by the name Dr. Hokugha Aye who considered this place as his own and served tirelessly to cater the need of the town and its periphery, the PHC has been functioning without a Medical Officer for almost or more than a year now. Akuluto town which is now upgraded to ADC HQ should at least employ a minimum of two Medical Officers but sadly the town has none.

Also, how can a medical officer from another town i.e. VK Town come as a proxy! when the medical officer himself has to be stationed in his own place of posting. A medical officer posted in some sub-division acting as a proxy for another sub-division is a shock! A disgrace Sir!

At such a time as this, when the Covid19 pandemic has triggered fear amongst the people, how can a Department ignore a sub-division which has a population in thousands who are solely depending on the PHC here! This is such a disgrace for the health department and a mockery to the people of both Akuluto and VK Town! In a panic situation and times as this, ignoring and treating a sub-division to such a lowest level may create another situation which is likely not welcoming for all of us.

I am sure the department must also be burdened with a lot of care but this issue is a matter of life and death. It is about the well-being and health of the people. This appeal is the voice of thousand voiceless people and I am sure as a responsible and concerned officer who is holding a chair to correct errors and fix the loopholes, you will sincerely look into the matter with utmost priority especially so at an hour like this when the whole world is combating the lately most dreadful virus called Covid19.

With Regards
