Salumi appeals for deliverance of justice

Dimapur, July 6 (MExN): The Salumi Village general public today filed a case in the court of the Deputy Commissioner & District Magistrate Kiphire against one T. Shophu on ground of corruption causing destruction of public peace and development.  Filing the case on behalf of the general public of Salumi Village, the case statement is appended by Hd GB Salumi & VCC Election ex-officio, Kithong; VCM Salumi Tangchemong; GB & VCC Election Secretary Y. Thsipankiu and Court Secretary K. Kurakmong. The Salumi Village has brought to notice of the court for deliverance of justice in general public interest and for restoring administrative peace and order in the village. While bringing “facts to justify the causes of law and order and obstruction of general public peace and development” the Salumi Village has listed ten allegations.
The Salumi Village appeals to the court to deliver justice while requesting to relate the Nagaland Village Council Bill 1978, under article 9 (1) clause (a), (e) and (f) and under article 16 (4). As per village council Act 1978, under article 4 provides Hd. GB as an ex-officio, the opportunity has not been given to conduct the VCC election process with political maneuver and held the VCC election at Pungro town which is totally undemocratic against the will of the Naga customs and practices, which need to review immediately. The Salumi Village demands that T Shophu’s election as VCC should be null and void as the election was illegally conducted and also the democratic rights of the people has been suppressed by the administration under the duress of political pressure. Meanwhile, they have demanded that L Tanchimong be appointed as VCC Salumi, since he has been elected on June 12, 2011 by having 28 village members voted in favor of him out of the 30 village council members. Further, t he VCC election should be re-conducted in general public interest if necessary and disqualify T Shophu from VCM and discharged from the post of GB.
“Failing for which any law and order problem that arises, the civil administrative officer will be held responsible of the consequences. And no matter the village administration will not recognize T Shophu as VCC of Salumi Village,” the statement further added.
The NPF Salumi Village has also issued an ultimatum to the MLA & Parliamentary Secretary, CAWD T Torechu demanding that the undemocratic election of T Shophu as VCC should be held up and should be considered as void; T Shophu should be expelled from NPF party and his service should not be utilized in any forum under Pungro area. The ultimatum which is signed by ten people further demanded to the MLA that “if you fails to compel to this ultimatum within 10th of July, it will assume that the administrative chaos and disorder of social administration and shattering of village political discipline shall be held total responsible on your head.”
In another statement, NPF Salumi also demanded the Deputy Commissioner, Kiphire (through Hd GB Salumi Village) for removal of T. Shophu from the post of GB at Salumi Village. Altogether nine representatives from all khels in Salumi Village in the joint statement also made seven point allegations and said “T. Shophu GB has brought one of the shameful disciplines against the customs and culture in Salumi Village by creating highest corruption, social injustice and immoral practices.” Therefore, inorder to restore peace, justice and corruption free in the village, T. Shophu has to be immediately discharged from the post of GB. Failing which any consequences arising out of this issue, the district administration will be held responsible, the NPF Salumi representatives stated.
Further, on behalf of the general public of Salumi Village, thirteen signatories representing all the khels have issued a complaint note addressing to the Kiphire District GB’s Association against the same person namely T. Shophu. While stating another five allegations, the representatives said that he cannot be holding the post as working president KDGBA an apex body of Naga Customs Rules Association and further.
