Bridge connecting Aokong with Lengrijan inaugurated

Dimapur, July 20 (MExN): The long awaited bridge connecting Aokong (Veterinary Colony), Mon Bosti with Lengrijan was inaugurated by MLA Dimapur II AC, Moatoshi Longkumer on July 20.

According to a press release received here, the MLA initiated the construction of two bridges in the constituency under the ‘Iconic Project’ of LADP for the year 2020-21. The first bridge connecting Boro Lingri to LRC Colony and Notun Bosti was inaugurated on January 18, 2020.

A short inaugural programme was conducted. The Aokong Council Member in his speech expressed gratitude to the MLA for construction of the bridge which was a long sought after project spanning over 15 years running from pillar to post to several ministers and MLAs but were unsuccessful in their attempt to get it materialised. He said that that today is the happiest day for the people of Aokong, Mon Bosti and Lengrijan as this bridge is the lifeline for the people of these colonies.

The Chairman of Lengrijan reiterated that the bridge was always on their developmental agenda as it benefits residents living on both sides. He added that now the bridge is completed, one should be vigilant against the movement of social evils traversing the bridge.

The District Planning Officer conveyed appreciation for the good work done on behalf of the Department and urged the colony residents to plants more trees.

The MLA said that construction the bridge would not have been possible without the divine intervention of God as there was no sanction for such a Project. However, in the midst of everything, the Government of Nagaland increased the LADP allocation by Rs 50 lakh more to be used for an “’conic Project’ in the constituency. Though the guideline was to take up just one project, the amount was less for a big undertaking but was sufficient for the construction of two bridges as this was in high demand by the residents of these colonies considering the hardships faced by them. Therefore, taking this into consideration, the two bridges were constructed successfully today. He further added that no project is too big or impossible if the funds are used judiciously and honestly. He thanked all the individuals involved in making the Aokong-Lengrijan Bridge, who were committed to its success in spite of the many problems faced during the lockdown.

The inaugural program was attended by the Council members of Lengrijan, Aokong, NPF Party functionaries and well-wishers.
