Talks going on with seriousness: NSCN (IM)

Dimapur, October 7 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) on Wednesday refuted reports about a final Naga Accord being finalized without the group, and said that ‘serious’ talks regarding the Naga flag and constitution with the Government of India (GoI) are being held.

A statement from its MIP on Wednesday claimed that while the informal talks with the Government of India (GoI) are going on for the ‘core issues of Naga flag and Yehzabo (constitution)’, “…mischief mongers from certain media groups are indulging in wild projection that the Naga accord is finalized, leaving aside NSCN, pointing to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and security sources.”

The NSCN (IM) further alleged that “certain MHA and security officials are working in tandem with some media groups with the twin purpose of putting pressure on NSCN and confuse the Naga people on Naga solution without Naga flag and constitution.”

It however claimed that there is an upsurge among Nagas that “there is no meaning of bringing Naga solution without flag and constitution.”

Taking a strong exception to reports of a ‘Naga deal’ without the NSCN (IM), it added that “Such highly motivated reports with sources from the Home Ministry and security are creating unnecessary sensation as desired by those vested groups.”

While reiterating its stand that there is no way forward on the Indo-Naga talk without finalizing on Naga flag and constitution, the NSCN (IM) said that talks on the same “are going on with the Government of India with all seriousness.”
