Kohima, June 10 (MExN): The concept of communitization of elementary education in the state of Nagaland is evidently fetching a lot of  "tick marks" at the Government Primary School, Kiruphema.

Kiruphema Government Primary School has registered a remarkable improvement in student enrolment as well as better academic results ever since it was communitized, according to Kobou Mezhunyu.

Terming the concept of communitization as an enormous but a commendable task, Mezhunyu, Chairman of the Village Education Committee (VEC) said that the villagers are for the moment quite satisfied with the implementation of communitization programmes. The Chairman described it as sheer involvement of the village community in the educational affairs in many a way.

He also informed that Kiruphma village has purchased a plot of land for the construction of a new school building of the Government Primary School, which was constructed through the assistance of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan.

The chairman further said that the village community also contributed in various ways such as free labour, fencings, free transportation of building materials by truck owners etc.

Besides, the 113 CRPF battalion, Secu- Zubza, also took part by contibuting CGI sheets under the battalion's Civic Action Programme, towards the building's construction.

Meanwhile, the construction of the school’s kitchen is also on pipeline, he added. Presently, the GPS, Kiruphema has 84 students.

The VEC is also receiving continuous help and support from parents, adding that frequent coordination meetings are being held between the teachers and VEC for the improvement of the school as well as the students.

At present, the school is having six classes with equal number of teachers. However, when a teacher is on leave or on other official duty, atleast one class has to be put off, the VEC Chairman said while adding that the school requires one more teacher.

On the other hand, the school has already received Hindi text books.  However, it was regretted that a Hindi teacher is yet to be posted. The school is looking forward for immediate posting of a Hindi teacher, the VEC chairman also added. With the dedication of a new school building, Kiruphema GPS Teacher in-charge, Dzuvi-u expressed his confidence that the school will acquire more attention and move towards a better perspective.
