Who will open the book of peace and appreciation thereon

With reference to the article appearing in your esteemed daily under the caption ‘Who will open the book of peace in Nagaland’, I wish to extend my sincere appreciation to the author who had fearlessly expressed the truth and opened the eyes of the Nagas to the present realities.

True leadership of any organization ought to uphold justice instead of subjugating itself by supporting one party against the other. It is sad that even many church leaders are found indulging in partisan attitude, and misleading the public. The call for rejuvenating the leadership is therefore timely, and ought to receive support from all walks of life.

Faction killings are not likely to stop if past incidents are of any indication. When one was killed by the NSCN (K) faction, they claimed that it was in furtherance of the national cause.

Similarly, when another was killed by the NSCN (IM) faction, they also claimed that there was no alternative but to kill him for the national cause. If the Naga national cause is for a brother to kill another brother, Nagas would never have consented to put their thumb impression on that fateful day. If the Naga cause is not for killing each other, no other Naga should justify killing fellow Nagas in the name of the Naga cause.

To speak the truth, the Naga cause is not for freedom from the kingdom of God, but for independence from the caste ridden or hate ridden kingdom. Therefore the church leaders and NGOs should call upon a spade and bring the warring factions under one authority that is the Almighty God. It is not enough merely to make appeals when half of the state is burning under hell-fire. How can the church remain satisfied with cosmetic slogans like ‘shed no more blood’ or ‘stop killing’, etc., etc.

It may be pointed out that even for prohibition, the NGOs and church leaders have proposed to go on fast indefinitely, whereas for the killing of our own Naga brothers, no one seems to bother. Is it not high time the church and NGO leaders propose to fast unto death until all factional leaders agree to stop killing each other? How can the sensible Naga people finance and support one Naga brother to kill another Naga brother? Do we not realize that brothers killing one another gives rest to our common enemy?

I pray that God will humble Naga leaders to come to terms with the word of God, for I strongly believe that only through humility the Nagas will achieve its goal. Let me remind ourselves of second Chronicles 7:14. If My people (Christians) who are called by My name (Christian State) will humble themselves and pray, and seek my face (not peace-process), and turn from their wicked ways ( factional killings, threats and extortions, raping, etc.); then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and heal their land (usher in peace and prosperity). How can we the Christians expect anybody else to open this Book of Peace in Nagaland, except ‘Jesus Christ the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings.’

Halleluiah! Praise the Lord! Amen and amen.
