AFRAU & PVC to allow tourists

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 30 (MExN): The Amur Falcon Roosting Area Union (AFRAU) Pangti and Pangti Village Council have resolved to allow all domestic, national and international tourists during the Amur Falcon migration season. This was decided during a general public meeting held on September 25. A press release from P Thungchumo Shidio, President, AFRAU informed all visitors to strictly follow and adhere to the Government COVID-19 guidelines. It may be noted that in 2019 and 2020, the AFRAU and Pangti Village Council had restricted all visitors during the falcon migration season expressing their resentment towards the State Government’s “failure to provide infrastructural development in Pangti village.”

The AFRAU said that since 2013 the villagers started preservation activities, however no development has been done by the government. It added that no ex gratia or incentives have been given to the landowners. However, the AFRAU said that the landowners are still willing to conserve and protect all biological resources if the government provides all round basic amenities.
