Kiphire: Police urged to display exemplary conviction to fight drugs

Kiphire, June 26 (MExN): The officers and other ranks of DEF Kiphire carried out a rally in Kiphire town to commemorate the occasion of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on June 26.

Speaking at the rally, SP Kiphire, K Swarnambika IPS, said that the main purpose of the rally was to spread awareness to the public regarding the ill effects of drugs and illicit trafficking. While addressing the police personnel, she said, “While the primary duty of police is to enforce law, it is also our social and moral obligation to spread the message of overcoming the menace of drug abuse.”

She also said that the police should display exemplary conviction in the fight against drugs by keeping oneself clean of anything related to drug abuse and illicit trafficking and also by initiating the spread of awareness amongst family members and friends. 

During the rally, pamphlets relating to narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances were distributed to the general public in town.
