Nagaland law students reiterate plea for online exams

Dimapur, November 27 (MExN): The student unions of the three law colleges under Nagaland University reiterated its plea to allow law students to sit for online examination in an open letter to the varsity’s Vice Chancellor on Saturday.

Citing an earlier representation on the same matter which was submitted on November 23, the union presidents of City Law College Dimapur, Mokokchung Law College, Kohima Law College reiterated that it was “irrational” to expect the law students to go for offline examination when offline classes were conducted for with hardly one month, and “without taking any remedial measure to see the teaching and learning process of student’s at large [sic].”

It said that it was “illogical to sacrifice the students while chasing the objective of the University as expecting the students to go for three semester examinations within hardly seven months is self defeating.” Such a system will not be able to produce any students with quality education despite strict offline examination, it said, adding that the law course is a professional course student deserving professional academic standards.

The unions also reasoned that “offline examination is not the only process of imparting quality education,” and as such, requested the VC to see “whether enough time has been invested towards imparting quality education to the students.”

Putting forth their grievances, it further requested the VC to decide on a solution for the student’s welfare while considering imparting education to the students as the priority. Stating it is upon the University to make a decision on the best option for the students, it reiterated that the “the three College Students Union stand in unity against imposition of examination with hardly one month offline class after odd semester exam.”
