Nagaland State BJP reaffirms stance on Naga political issue

Kohima, September 2 (MExN): The BJP Nagaland State Unit acknowledged the ‘tremendous strides’ in the Indo-Naga Peace Talks and resolved to reaffirm its stand towards an early political solution to the Naga political issue.

The resolution was taken during the party’s first virtual executive rally meeting on August 29 with Union Minister of State for External Affairs, V Muraleedharan and BJP National General Secretary and Northeast Zonal in-charge Ram Madhav, according to a press release issued by the Media Officer to President, Nagaland State BJP, which was issued on September 2.

With regard to the Indo-Naga Peace Talks, the release stated that “The Party stands for an early solution for the Naga Political Solution; which is inclusive, acceptable and honourable, keeping in mind the history and political rights of the people.”

The talks have made tremendous strides in recent years for which we placed on record our unreserved appreciation to the parties involved in the Naga Political Issue- the Government of India, the NSCN (IM) and the Working Committee of the Naga National Political Groups (WC,NNPGs), for their sincerity in bringing the peace process thus far, the release stated.

It said that the PDA Government, of which the BJP is an integral partner, plays the role of an active facilitator to the ongoing Indo-Naga political negotiations, and as such reaffirmed its stand on the Naga political issue. 

The release, quoting Minister Muraleedharan, further stated that “the Naga political issue is at a very crucial juncture, and the NDA Government led by Prime Minister Modiji, National President JP Naddaji, Union Minister and Chairperson of NDA Amit Shahji, are very keen to bring the decades old Naga issue to a logical conclusion.”
