‘Liso’, which means ‘all things given by the Mother Earth’, is derived from the Ao (Mongsen) language and made its foray as one of Nagaland’s beauty brands two years ago. Exclusively made in Nagaland, Liso products are purely organic and natural, making it a complete package of healthy skincare.

With over 35 varieties of products ranging from lotions to shampoo bars, lip balms to lipsticks, serums to essential oil, gel to different varieties of soap, Liso is the brainchild of a mother of three, who, despite many hurdles and challenges, worked towards starting her own line of skincare.

The founder, who did not wish to be named, underwent training in cosmetology, explored and did her own researches before venturing into Liso to ensure that her products are infused with the core values of being organic, natural and chemical free.

Initially, Liso was only catering to the needs of family and friends, but with the growing demand of her products, a brand store in Mokokchung is in the pipeline while Liso products will be available in Kohima by September and Dimapur this August.

Towards this end, Naga supermodel and sustainable fashion curator, Opang Jamir has been chosen as the brand ambassador of Liso. Speaking to The Morung Express during a photo shoot in Kohima today, he related his experience of using a Liso lip balm, which he said, has worked wonderfully for his problem of dry lips which he faces even during summer. “I was quite taken by surprise with the use of the moisturizer, sun block, the French clay mask, which I use every week…it’s just been one month but Liso really brings out the real essence in me,” he endorsed.

The 29-year-old supermodel further emphasized that the best part of Liso is that it is paraben-free. The name of the brand itself suggests that all products are natural. “It is the gift of mother earth and whatever ingredients we use are all gifts of mother Earth,” he explained while also pointing out that “they are very affordable even for the economy, middle class and everyone and you can get the best nutrition out of these products.”

Having experienced hair fall himself, Opang Jamir said, “After using Liso shampoo, my hair is 100% under control.” “At this point of my life, to get this type of endorsement for free is incredible,” he added with regard to getting to use Liso products for free as the brand ambassador.

Stating that “vocal for local and entrepreneurship is the future,” he strongly feels that even through this brand, they will be doing their bit in curbing unemployment among young people since it is a chain where everybody is interconnected. Currently, the raw materials are sourced from farmers in the villages. “We only use natural preservatives and it has a life shelf of 12 months. ‘Natural’ means you get the best out of the best,” he asserted.

Following the photo shoot today wherein Ruopfüzhano Whiso was the Creative Director and Stylist, Qhevika Swu was the Photographer and Arho Kajiri was the Hair and Make-up Artist, Opang Jamir informed that, “We will be doing a lot of campaigns.”

“My advocacy after this shoot will be reaching out to young boys and girls letting them know that with natural products you are getting the best. As a user, you get the best! And as a skin product line, I recommend it to everyone,” he said.

If college/schools want to collaborate for awareness programs on use of natural products, he also informed that they can write to him at opangmetsubo@gmail.com.
