Restore power to the people

To,
The Chief Engineer
Department of Power
Government of Nagaland
Kohima

Sir,
With reference to the demand made through a memo submitted to hon’ble Chief Minister Nagaland Ref No. LSU M2 /04-06 dated 21 July 2005, and consequent upon the government’s failure to meet the Union’s demand the union had staged a 12-hour TOTAL BANDH in Wokha District on 23 August 2005. Subsequently, a general meeting of the Public convened by the Lotha Students’ Union was held on 6th Sept. 2005  whereby the public resolved to apprise the Government of its demands for immediate redressal.

1.  Immediate Re-Location of existing power station to the Department’s acquired Land and upgradation of power station to 5MVA capacity thereof.

2.  Immediate restoration of collapsed towers (Doyang-Kohima via Wokha transmission line) and supply of power to Wokha District thereof.

The Lotha Students’ Union, impress upon your concerned department to immediately set the process of implementing the above genuine demands in the larger interest of the people.

It further resolved to extend full support and co-operation to the concerned Department as and when the need arises. The LSU also cautions that failure on the part of the Department  to meet the aforementioned demands by 15 September 2005 would compel the Union to intensify its ongoing agitation through democratic means.
