A website for the Recover Restore and Decolonise (RRaD) project pertaining to the repatriation of Naga ancestral human remains from the Pitt Rivers Museum, University of Oxford, England was launched on December 6 in Dimapur.
Launching the website at the XVIII Morung Lecture, RRaD team member Talilula informed that the site was developed to share information about the process of finding and returning the remains of Naga ancestors taken by museums and collecting institutions all over the globe.
It would serve as an interactive platform where stories, images, articles, etc., would be shared with the community with the purpose of studying and networking with indigenous elders, conducting participatory action research, and generating public awareness.
Meanwhile, the RRad team also conducted a soft launch of an upcoming graphic novel titled ‘A Path Home.’
On the occasion, author Dr Arkotong Longkumer and illustrator Meren Imchen, shared that the graphic novel is homage to Naga ancestors. Sharing their experience of producing the graphic novel, the duo shared that it explores the stories of the ancestors and the significant historical events that have defined the past in the graphic medium.
