SC Jamir encourages people to learn Hindi

Dr. S.C. Jamir, former chief minister of Nagaland and former governor of Goa, Maharastra today asserted that Hindi being the official language of the country the boys and girls of the state should also learn Hindi. Gracing Hindi Pakhwada Samapan Samaroh here at Zonal Council Hall, Dr. Jamir expressed happiness that the people were showing interest in learning Hindi and appreciated those people who are exposing the cause of teaching and promoting Hindi.

He also urged every individual to try to teach the people the history of India and the various facets of India along with the language “so that we can all march hand in hand along with the country in all fields.”

Further, Dr. Jamir posed the challenges faced by people almost everyday, and to ponder on how to master over those challenges and convert them into tomorrow’s opportunities. “I think this is the greatest challenge not only in Nagaland but in the whole country,” he said and felt that the young generation or the youth has the ability to take the responsibility to disseminate the challenges into opportunities.

Democracy has taken its roots very deeply and the first and foremost challenge that we face today is to stabilize the democratic system which we have inherited from the founder of this country, Dr. Jamir said.

He said India is like a diamond facet, unity in diversity has to be the bedrock of the democratic system of the nation. Ideology has taken a back seat but interest of different facet has taken the front seat and for survival they have to compromise.

Stating that India is on the threshold of becoming superpower in the next two to three decades, he said “ It is every individuals responsibility to strengthen the process of making India a superpower dream come true and for that we need to do away with any chauvinism f language or religion. If India wants the country to keep strong the government and the individual need to interact and co-ordinate and should reach every nook and corner of the country to teach the history of India.”

He said there should not be a backward or a neglected India if it wants to become a model democratic country. Congratulating the organizers for initiating a program for the promotion of Hindi in the state, he encouraged the youngsters to learn Hindi in order to move forward.

Earlier, Atul Prakash, Deputy Accountant General (Audit) Nagaland read the message sent by the Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram. He also enlightened on the importance of Hindi. Cultural program which included songs from various schools, patriotic songs and poem recitations marked also the program.
