Scholars, writers & authors advised

DIMAPUR, DEC 5 (MExN): Scholars, writers and authors have been forewarned by the Yimchungrü Students’ Union (YSU) and the Western Yimchungrü Students’ Union (WYSU). The student bodies have cautioned that writers should not identify sub-dialects of the Yimchungrü such as Langa, Tikhir, Chirü, Mükhokrü, etc as proper tribes. They have informed all who have already made publications containing the above sub-dialects as a tribe to rectify the same in their next editions. “Failing which the union will not hesitate to take its own course of action,” a release said. The Nagaland government has been asked to be vigilant in this regard in order to “avoid unnecessary problems.”

The students have further warned individuals and organizations against performing anti-social actions against the Yimchungrü tribe cautioning that those who err will not be spared but seriously dealt with as per customary law. It also appreciated the decision taken by the Yimchungrü Tribal Council in walking out from the Tuensang Mon People’s Organization meeting which was held on November 15 at Hotel Japfü, Kohima.
