The Anguish Prayer of the Naga

Thepfulhouvi Solo

Oh God! Our father in heaven:
Our hearts are crying in anguish,
Speechless with sorrow;
Evils have befallen our land.
We cried for peace we did not know;
There is no solace anywhere;
Peace came to us in our land!
Yet our peace refused the peace;

And shredded the peace into pieces:
False life of hypocrisy;
Goodness for-show fools us;
And false leaders fooled us.
We have bankrupted our candour;
Reality and honesty have escaped us.

We have lost our spiritual balance:
And ridicules your absolute truth
With calls for modern ‘pluralism’.
Worshiped ‘other gods’ and
Calls for ‘alternative life-style’.

Our conscience has gone awry;
-Female marries female; male, -male;
We kill the ‘unborn’ and
Claims ‘freedom of choice’;
We have lost ethical values;
Replaced patience of forefathers
With educated cleverness;
We casually embezzle public fund
For personal interests and
Institutionalized bribery:

Yet:-
We profoundly thank you; oh, god
For our beautiful & bountiful land;
Friendly, generous and zestful people;
No desert; never ever flood;
No devastating earthquake or typhoon;
Ever green in our living memory.

Oh! god; make us search our hearts;
And cleanse our hearts from our sin;
Look at us and please remember us -amen.
