PTPF bans import of pigs, pork into Phek town

Kohima, April 28 (MExN): Due to mushrooming cases of the African swine fever around the town and the State as well as unconfirmed report of selling contaminated pork, the Phek Town Public Forum (PTPF) has resolved to ban import of pigs/ piglets/ butchered-pig/ dressed-pork into the town till further notice.

In an emergency meeting, the Forum also resolved that defaulter would be penalised and a sum of Rs 

Rs 30,000 would be imposed on supplier. The penalty for transporter is Rs 15,000. 

All the Ward Chairmen, GBs and Ward Youth Presidents have been further directed to keep a strict vigil against defaulters.

Report any suspicious case of the disease to the Forum or to the Office of the Chief Veterinary Office, Phek immediately, stated a press release issued by PTPF General Secretary Seyieveto Lohe.
