Youths challenged to choose peace, reconciliation

Dimapur, September 25 (MExN): Understanding the need to make young people know the importance of peace, happiness and reconciliation, Rev. Kilang Jamir of Youth Harvest Ministry today said that these things are not determined by the society or the locality one live in but by one’s decision; “We decide and chose to be happy and reconcile.” Your image value, dignity, quality of life does not change by the way people treat you but we decide. There are people who choose to live in the “zone of doubt and negativity,” and for them it is difficult to understand that “negative things also bring positive blessings,” Jamir stated.

The Reverend was speaking at the Breakthrough 2010, Dimapur youth revival for hostels organised by the John Mission Ministry at Lotha Hoho Ki. Encouraging the young people gathered from different hostels not to be persuaded by the materialistic world, Jamir said, “comparison is destructive because there is only one ‘you.’ Discover yourself and allow God to explore you. Some people never live their life because they are too busy living life of some other people. Religious commitment without Jesus will be just religious rituals.”

Challenging the gathering to take the given opportunities to seek the grace of God and never take the word of God for granted, Jamir said no place in the world has the freedom, the privilege in the things of God as Nagas have. People in other places of the world are struggling to have freedom of religion. “We have more freedom than any other people in the world. The church bell is enough to hear the calling of God,” he added.

However, he said that when you are determined to serve the Lord, the challenges to serve will be greater. Paul in the book of 2Timothy 1:11, 12 was going through a difficult time. People misunderstood the message he had from God, they attacked him from every corner but God never let him down. Similarly, if we start moving with God, there will be enemies because they will be moved by jealousy. It is the way of the world; therefore you need to be wise. “We don’t live to please people but to make peace and please God. There are some people with whom you cannot reconcile, leave them to God,” the Reverend stated.

Rose Imti, managing director, NIDC while giving exhortation challenged the young people to take home the message, ponder about it and keep it in their heart. Mentioning from Deuteronomy 28, she said that the only way to success, happiness is to ‘obey God’ and with Jesus you will not feel something is missing in your life. She also added that, ‘we live in a secular country and we should respect other religion. But as Christians we should not be swayed away by festivities.’ On the onset praise and worship was followed by Bible reading and prayer by Jongshimanen, Associate Youth Director, DABA, special song by Boyzone hostellers and ABTM girl’s hostellers. There was also song and testimony sharing by students from Youth Harvest Ministry.

Breakthrough 2010 is a two days event and will conclude on Sunday with two services (10 in the morning and 4 in the evening). Rev. Kilang Jamir will be the speaker through out the revival.
