Dimapur, April 27 (MExN): The 3rd edition of the Children's Home Sports Day 2024 organised by Team Better Dimapur was held with Governor of Nagaland, La Ganesan as the special guest at Holy Cross School, Dimapur on April 27

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said, “we are not just participants or spectators of the sports meet but we are part of a much larger story - a story of caring for each other and of unity, and to see over 200 young enthusiastic faces ready to display their talent, hard work, and sportsmanship.” Each one of them represents the indomitable spirit of our youth, echoing the importance of teamwork and unity, he added.

The Governor asserted that the event is more than a competition. It is a celebration of unity, an embodiment of strength in diversity and a testament to what we can achieve when we come together with a common purpose. The Annual Children's Home Sports Meet is a splendid platform that brings together children from various backgrounds, nurturing in them the principles of mutual respect, understanding, and collective endeavour, he stated.

He further stated that in addition to celebrating the spirit of sportsmanship, the event serves a noble cause - raising awareness about the significance of community support for the lesser-privileged sections of our society. It is a gentle reminder that each one of us has a role to play in making our society more inclusive, compassionate, and supportive. “We must acknowledge that our contribution, no matter how small can make a substantial difference in someone's life,” the Governor noted.

Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Dr Tinojongshi Chang in his keynote addressed expressed his gratitude to the Team Better Dimapur initiative for organizing such a wonderful event. He also acknowledged the importance of sports in our lives and promised that the district administration would continue to support such initiatives.

The DC Dimapur also thanked all the sponsors and other organizations that contributed to the success of the program. He emphasized that the district administration is committed to promoting sports and will always come forward to support such activities.
