Authenticity of memo to Governor questioned

DIMAPUR, NOV 10 (MExN): The NPF has come out strongly against the letter written by the Pfutsero public to the Governor recently and mentioned that in the letter written to the Governor, 53 people had purportedly written the memorandum whereas as per the opening sentence it was alleged that the ‘person’ on whose behalf the letter was written did not contain any names, which the NPF stated had created doubts in the mind of the people.

“In fact, the modus operandi and veracity of the letter is highly questionable because it is certain that most of the signatories were misrepresented and misguided by some vested interest elements to disturb the peaceful atmosphere of Nagaland”, NPF Press Secretary R. Paphino in a communiqué stated.

While expressing concern over the sporadic occurrence of criminal activities in Nagaland, the NPF has however argued that such ‘criminal events’ and social conflicts were ‘world phenomenon’ and ‘inescapable’. The NPF was responding to a letter written by citizens of Pfutsero to the Governor of Nagaland in which the signatories had demanded invoking of Article 355 as a result of breakdown in law and order in the State under the DAN government.

Further, terming this move of the Pfutsero public as ‘unfortunate’ and without any basis Paphino pointed out that during the year 2000 there were 1368 cases as per the State crime report under the Congress regime and mentioned that in 2004 under the DAN government the record showed only 324 cases.
