JCF demand trade license ban of discos, nightclubs in Dimapur

DIMAPUR, MAY 17 (MExN): The Joint Council Forum (JCU) of NST, Churches and Middle Point Colony has appreciated the banning of discos and nightclubs and announcing immediate cessation of their operation by the NSCN (IM).

In a press release, the JCF said, “This sagacious decision of imposing a rigorous penalty on those involving in the sale of prohibited substances and also cautioning its own members of strict disciplinary action if they are found involved in any misconduct or untoward incidents is indeed laudable.”

The JCF also called upon the churches, district administration and CSOs of Dimapur to question the landlords and proprietors which houses these outlets and runs them.

“These so called restro-bars, lounge and nightclubs have completely disrupted the peace and tranquillity of localities and neighbourhoods causing sleepless nights by their loud music, drunken brawls and innumerable immoral activities at late nights and at wee hours. Students appearing their exams are facing a harrowing time by these detestable activities,” it stated.

In this connection, the JCF demanded that the trade license of these outlets be immediately cancelled by the district administration.  It alleged that many youth, especially underage girls including in late night immoral activities have brought personal and family problems leading to a moral decay of Naga society.

Frequent street brawls in the past have even led to loss of lives of some youth but these incidents were hushed up with reasons best known to our leaders concerned, it further alleged while adding, “It is time we call a spade a spade and remove all unwanted activities from our society.”
