Colleges bid adieu to outgoing students

This prestigious award is given each year to a student from the outgoing students by the Academic Committee. The selection is based on academic performance and co-curricular activities. DIMAPUR, APRIL 28 (MExN): The 40th Parting Social 2024 of the Baptist College, Kohima and Sechü Campus was held on April 26 at Ura Academy, Kohima under the theme “Embracing Today, Navigating Tomorrow.”

Speaking on the occasion, Narola Chuba, Vice Principal, Baptist College, Kohima, exhorted the outgoing students to embrace challenges, stay curious, and continue to learn and carry a positive impact as they venture out on their new journey.
She also emphasized on how humility allows one to acknowledge their strengths without arrogance and accept our weaknesses with grace.

Jesse Kapfo, B.A 4th Semester, Department of History delivered a speech on behalf of the juniors and speech on behalf of seniors was addressed by Diezenuo Chüzho, B.A 6TH Semester, Department of English and Pfütsükote Ketsu Koza, outgoing President, Student Council.

C-Edge College
C-Edge College marked a significant milestone on April 25 as it bid farewell to its BA and BBA VI semester students in a memorable 10th Commencement Day.

A press release informed that the event was held at the G.K Auditorium, with a solemn prayer led by Niya Kath, EU Advisor, setting the tone for the day’s proceedings. The college choir team presented the College Song “Believe in Him” for the procession and entry of the graduating. Pledge of Allegiance with the graduating class was presided over by Meyatemsu, HoD of English.

The welcome note was delivered by Principal, Dr Chubatola Aier while the highlight of the event was the inspiring address by the college president, Er. Moa Aier, who emphasized on fostering a cutting-edge mindset among students. The college awards was presided over by Wapanginla Ao, Dean & HoD Management Studies who presented a plethora of accolades, including the Laurel Award, Star Attendance, Best Attendance Award, Champion Star Award, Spear Award, NUVBC EU Student of the Year Award, Balakrishnan Ramanathan EVS Award and the newly inducted Best Library User Award.

The event also featured a presentation by Zhovelu from BA II Semester, showcasing the diverse talents nurtured at C-Edge College. The Roll of Honor for the graduating Class of 2024 was conducted by Daisy Shitio, Dean of Social Science & Humanities. Seema Debnath, Convener of the Commencement Day Committee, delivered the closing remarks expressing gratitude to all participants for making the event a resounding success.

Fazl Ali College 
Fazl Ali College held its parting social for the outgoing class of 2024 on April 26. The theme for the event was “Beyond Goodbyes: Celebrating Endings, Embracing Beginnings.” 

Dr I Wati Imchen, Principal of Fazl Ali College gave the farewell speech on behalf of the teaching faculty members with encouragement for the beginning of their adulthood and expressed gratitude for the accolades they brought to the college. He urged the students to remember the lessons learned in college and encouraged them to build a life beyond their professions and careers, a press release issued by Information and Publicity Cell, FAC informed. 

Asensor, General Secretary of FACSU gave a heartfelt message on behalf of the students thanking the seniors for the memories and the lessons. Talisenep from 6th Semester, Bachelor of Arts and Aosen Amer from 6th Semester, Bachelor of Science gave the farewell speeches on behalf of the outgoing class. Song presentations were presented by Opangalanger & Limasenla, the outgoing class of 2024 and Limasenla, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics. A special prayer for the outgoing students was given by Rev Lima Lemdur, Pastor, Union Church.

MGM College 
A farewell ceremony was organized in honor of the outgoing students of MGM College on April 27. According to a press release, the program consisted of two sessions: formal and informal, during which the outgoing batch adorned their best attire and celebrated the day.

The first session commenced with a scripture reading and invocation by David, Assistant Professor in the Department of History and EU senior advisor. The Principal’s message was delivered by the Vice-Principal, Dr R.K. Behera. 

Addressing the graduating batch, he commended the students for their dedication, perseverance, and academic excellence throughout their tenure. He emphasized that as they embark on this new chapter of their lives, they should remember the lessons learned within these walls and carry them as guiding lights. He reminded them that their journey doesn’t end here; it’s merely the beginning of a new adventure filled with infinite possibilities.

The session also featured heartfelt farewell speeches from both outgoing and current students, taking everyone on a nostalgic journey.

Immanuel College 
Immanuel College organised a farewell programme for the outgoing under-graduate and postgraduate batch of 2024 on April 26.
Vice Principal, Immanuel College Dr T. Imchanochetla Changkija exhorted the students by emphasizing that education is more about our attitude, action, language, and social behaviour with others than about having a certificate.

These attributes, she said, are the key to progress in life, which the students should imbibe as they embark on their new journey. Hinting on the prevailing crisis of moral issue, violence, mistrust, etc, she challenged the students to take up the responsibilities by utilising their educational weapons to bring about changes in society.

Dr Loso Chalai, Chairman, Immanuel College, in his address to the outgoing students, reiterated the need to reflect God’s image in their lives by being a child of God, which he claimed to be the greatest status one could hold. 

Nalei Konyak delivered a farewell speech on behalf of the juniors, while Yeanglem Konyak, Sida, Christina, Imnawapang Lkr, Angnyei Talem Konyak spoke on behalf of the outgoing students and paid their tribute to the college.
