DDGBA clarifies on election of members

Dimapur, April 9 (MExN): The Dimapur District GBs Association has clarified that the association comprises of eight administrative units (GB bodies) and does not represent any particular area of Dimapur district nor a particular community or tribe.

The eight GB bodies include Dimapur GBs Union (Sardar), Chümoukedima GBs Union, Medziphema GBs Union, Dhansiripar GBs Union, Kuhuboto GBs Union, Niuland GBs Union, Ato Area GBs Union and Aghunaqa GBs Union, the DDGBA Advisor Tokuho Suhoi Neho stated in a press release on Friday.

The DDGBA also put across its stance on the selection/election of DDGBA president and other office bearers and said that the association president was “duly and consensually elected unopposed by 25 electorate (out of 37 electorate) in presence of Nagaland GBs Federation officials as election observers on January 22, 2019.”

It recounted the events that preceded the election and said that the persons proposed by the search committee were not qualified as members of DDGBA at the given point of time as they had failed to pay the association membership fee. Moreover, two of the search committee members refused to sign on the committee report which was consequently disapproved by the house during its general conference at Diphupar B on November 24, 2018. Subsequently, DDGBA held a meeting with its administrative units on December 1, 2018 where it was resolved that the election/selection would be held within January 2019.

The DDGBA further stated that the election of president or any other office bearers “was done as per the resolution and purely in the interest of the association and that the present team of office bearers of DDGBA is smoothly functioning for the wellbeing of the society.”
