Frontline Tsg organizations issue notice to ATTNGOU

DIMAPUR, NOV 13 (MExN): Questioning the credibility of the newly formed All Tuensang Town Non Governmental Organization Union (ATTNGOU) over its demand for using Ductile Iron (DI) Pipes for the ‘Gravity Water Supply’ to Tuensang Town, four frontline organization from the region demanded the leaders of ATTNGOU to justify their claim for DI pipes and have also questioned as to who represented the ATTNGOU.

A joint statement issued in the form of a notice by the Tuensang Mon Students’ Federation (TMSF), Chang Khulei Setshang (CKS), Confederation of Chang Students’ Union (CCSU) and Tuensang Town Council (TTC) have asked the ATTNGOU as to what other issues it has brought to the government’s notice for the welfare of the public and pointed out that their demands should be revealed within three days of the issuance of the notice, i.e. November 13. “Failing to comply with this realistic move, the so called ATTNGOU shall be branded as (an) unlawful organization,” the joint statement said.

The joint statement reiterated its earlier stand against the use of DI pipes pointing out that this was not suitable for hilly terrain in places such as Tuensang or other parts of Nagaland despite its longer durability.

The organizations also brought to notice the fact that careful handling of DI pipes was indispensable where hairline cracks occur easily on the barrel and cement lining of the pipe.

On GI pipes, they also cited advantages such as hydraulic pressure, socket threaded joints of GI pipes, convenience for replacement and repairs, availability of the pipes in the market and tempering resistance. Stating that the welfare of the general public had to be viewed while being pragmatic and owing responsibility in the eyes of the public.
