Identity in Christ

Identifying ourselves with what Christ is the first step towards spiritual maturity. In our natural self we tend to falter because our ignorance of the power of grace. We often say that grace is a gift of God and we are saved by it. The concepts we have about it is in harmony with what the Word is but we fail to study the deeper insights of it.

It’s good to be loved but it’s even better to be called a child of God. Once we start to know who we really are in Christ, the clouds of darkness that covered us will be lifted up. The sensation may be akin to that of a sick man being healed. The evil one’s ultimate goal is to deny us the blessings that we can have through Christ. In other words they like to keep us in the dark of knowing our true identity in Christ. It is not surprising because this world is the devil’s territory and we are in conflict with him.

We can be effective only when we consider ourselves as God’s own children. If you meditate on the following verses, the blessings of it will come back to you. (John 1:12, john 15:15, Romans 5:1, 1 Corinthians 6:7, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, Ephesians 1:1, Ephesians 1:5,Ephesians 2:18, colosians1:14, Colossians 2:10, 2nd Corinthians 5:21.)

Jesus did not simply come down to suffer for our sins alone but He came down to earth that we may also become one in Him as He is one with the Father. The sole purpose of the scripture is to be a light unto all people. If the love of Christ is in us, we will start to know who we really are in Christ. The Bible says… to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.- children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God. John 1:12-13

We are what we are because of what we chosed to believe. The bible also says that we   are the righteousness in Christ because of our relationship with Him. Inspite of our sinful past, we are called into the light to be part takers of the glory that will be revealed through Him. This is what the power of grace is all about and it is for us to believe it as we receive it.

Children of God that is what we are. The confirmation to what we really are in Christ is further evidenced in John 3:1-4 which states “How great is the love which the father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God. And that is what we are. The reason the world does not know us is that, it did not know Him. Dear friends, now we are children of God and what we will be has not yet been made known. But you know that when He appears, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. Everyone who has this hope in Him, purifies Himself just as He is pure.

The promises of the future will be received by everyone who lives by the truth of the Word. To know our identity in Christ and to be secured in salvation is the need of the hour. Purifying ourselves and submitting our lives to Him is the only way to keep our stance in Christ secured. If you know who you are in Christ and do what you have to do for Christ, we assure you that your life will never be the same again. Just believe in the power of grace and you will experience the power of God working in you lives. Just know who you are in Christ and start living for Christ. The blessings will be yours.
