Kohima, September 23 (MExN): The 13th general session and fresher’s meet of the Khulazu Basa Students’ Union Kohima (KBSUK) was held under the theme ‘Empowering the next generation: unlocking potential and inspiring change’ at the Red Cross conference hall, Kohima on Saturday.

Speaking on the theme, Deputy Registrar, Nagaland University Lumami, Vekhoyi Tetseo said that student leaders have to be the role models of the next generation. “As seniors, it is important to empower and inspire the younger ones.” He encouraged the students to believe in themselves and their potentials. Saying low self-esteem and lack of confidence in oneself kills all potentials in a person, he encouraged the students to have confidence in their capabilities and accept challenges in life.

“The most basic thing to inspire others is acquiring education,” he said while also stating that “academics alone will not take them anywhere without goal. As students, have aims and goals and put in effort towards achieving it.”

He further advised them to use technology to be a catalyst to change their lives. “Use it for a purpose and don't let it ruin you but use it to advance in life.”

KBSUK President, Verakho Rhakho in his address urged the students to embrace diversity, inclusivity, and compassion. ‘The power to make a difference lies within each one of us. Embrace collaboration, empathy and innovation as you navigate through your academic and personal endeavors,’ Rhakho added.

Earlier, Kohima Chakhesang Students’ Union, President Veze Tunyi delivered greetings; Nukhosa Chuzho, Secretariat Assistant at Nagaland Civil Secretariat gave a brief background on KBSUK; Meloho Rhakho spoke on behalf of the fresher; Vephisa Rhakho, founding member of the KBSUK exhorted the students; and Phisalu Kezo and Nekholu Chuzho presented folk song.
