KOHIMA, OCTOBER 4 (MExN): The Kohima District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) today recommended the upgradation of Tseminyu Sub-Division to that of Tseminyu District. The recommendation has been forwarded to the State Government for consideration.

This was decided in the district’s monthly DPDB meeting held on October 4 under the Chairmanship of DPDB Chairman and Advisor for Technical Education and Election, Medo Yhokha.

A report from the DIPR informed that Advisor for V&AH and Women Resources, R Khing and ADC Tseminyu, W Manpai Phom, NCS, highlighted the aspiration of the Rengma community on the demand for upgradation of Tseminyu sub-division to that of a district. They further submitted key data records of the sub-division to the meeting. 

Other Legislators present in the meeting included Advisor for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Dr Neikiesalie Nicky Kire; MLA, Keneizhakho Nakhro; and Vice President of the Angami Public Organisation (APO), Neivor Rutsa. They reportedly expressed their support for recommendation of the proposal to the government during the deliberation.

MLA, Nakhro meanwhile pressed upon the need for upgradation of Public Health Centre, Sechü Zubza to a Community Health Centre as it is located on the National Highway where medical services with more facilities can be provided in times of emergencies as well as to the people of the area. The house also deliberated on the matter along with the report submitted by the CMO Kohima and further decided to recommend the matter to the government for consideration.

Deputy Commissioner & Vice Chairman, DPDB, Gregory Thejawelie, NCS, meanwhile reminded the Village Adoption Committees to initiate and activate the plan process for the adoption activities by the next DPDB meeting.
