Inter-school cricket tournament in Kiphire underway

The first ever Inter-School Cricket Tournament Under-16 Boys organised by Kiphire District Cricket Association under the aegis of Nagaland Cricket Association kicked off at Public Ground Kiphire on May 6. 

Speaking at the inaugural programme as special guest, Sulangthung Khenchug (NCS), SDO Civil, Kiphire Hq appreciated KDCA for taking the initiative in organizing such kind of tournament for youngsters who are at the very prime age to be shaped and moulded in their field of interest.

He said cricket being the most loved sport around the globe especially in India, it is the most honoured and respected sport of the country 

Asserting that it is vital to educate and inspire youngsters to its fabric of experience, he encouraged all the participants from different schools to give their best not just to win but to learn, to discipline, to cooperate, to experience most of all to build oneself holistically. 

Altogether 8 schools are participating in the tournament which will culminate on May 8.

Short speeches were also delivered by Head GB, Kiphire Town and All Private Schools Association Kiphire. The programme was chaired by Hopila Sangtam, invocation by Chopongkyu Anar, Pastor KTBL and welcome address delivered by Convenor KDCA and benediction was pronounced by Bhim Sapkota pastor Nepali Baptist Church Kiphire.

Meanwhile, a press release received here stated that in the opening day the first match which was played between Holy Cross High school and Agape Hr Sec School, the Agape school won the match with 37 runs all out, winning the toss the Agape Hr Sec school opted to bat and has score 80 runs in 14.3 over with lose of 10 wickets and while Holy Cross school chasing the target of 80 run were all out in 11 overs and manage to score 43 runs and in second ground  between Trinity High school and Loyola Hr Sec School, Loyola Hr Sec school chasing the target of 77 runs has won the match with six wickets in 9.2 over.
