Youth Harvest Ministry: A testimony

Rev. Kilang Jamir

“…see how they are already white for the Harvest…, for he is gathering fruit unto eternal life”. John 4: 35, 36.

In the year 1989, a burden was laid by the Lord in my heart for the young people. The burden had become heavier as I see the addiction of drugs, alcoholism, miseries caused to parents and also see the spiritual need of the young people. Through fervent prayer a vision was given to reach out to young people, particularly in the North Eastern India with the message of Salvation through Christ.
However, it took nearly 18 years to establish Youth Harvest Ministry on January 1, 2009 as an independent, faith based ministry. Those 18 years of ministry, the Lord assigned me nearly two years in Myanmar border as a Teaching Missionary, seven years in Delhi as pastor-cum-Bible Teacher and nine years as an Evangelist in Nehemiah India in Nagaland. Those 18 years were great time of preparation and great learning from the Lord of His ways.
Personally witnessing the great Harvest of the Lord, particularly among the young people, God through the Holy Spirit has named the ministry as “Youth Harvest Ministry” which is based on the promised word of God in John 4: 35, 36“…see how they are already white for the Harvest…, for he is gathering fruit unto eternal life”.
The voice was clear from the Lord, as me and my wife were fasting and waiting on the Lord as He said, “Disciple my children, whom I harvest them, teach them to follow me, equip them to live an overcoming, abundant life.”
Since the voice continued speaking into our hearts for the last four years, with much prayer and with assurance from the Lord, Youth Follow-up Training School is born under the umbrella of Youth Harvest Ministry. As the name clearly suggest, it will help, train and equip young people to live life to the fullest and to continue walking with the Lord without backsliding.

Purpose:
•    To lead young people to Christ for personal salvation.
•    To disciple believers, to be victorious, overcoming in every aspect of their lives.
•    To equip and assist young people for evangelism.
•    To inculcate in individual an ever deepening hunger to know Christ through the study of the Word of God and corporate worship.
•    To equip the young people to be instrumental in bringing about a revival in the church and in society.
