Christo Naga’s Club undertakes terrace cultivation in Zhavame

Phek, June 17 (MExN): To integrate individuals of all professions into the main occupation of the Nagas, Christo Naga’s Club of Zhavame village decided to venture into terrace cultivation amid the uncertain situation posed by COVID-19. 

 

A press release received here stated that the club members took the offer from Nasu Krocha to plough on his field for free this year at Chi du. A total of 21 members of the club went to the field on June 16 and completed the transplanting of paddy saplings. Further, the club will take ownership of the whole process of cultivation including the ploughing, transplanting saplings, weeding and harvesting.

 

 

The club members consist of young entrepreneurs, teachers, public servants and professionals working in private sectors. Embarking on this project have deepened the members to the ancestral occupation of our people, reminding us that, “Agriculture is the backbone of our economy.”
