ICAR Nagaland Centre organizes ‘Special National Swachhta Campaign’

Dimapur, October 17 (MExN): A ‘Special National Swachhta Campaign’ was organized at Government Middle School Kukidolong village, Dimapur on October 12 by ICAR Nagaland Centre.

The campaign was launched to create awareness on importance of maintaining cleanliness in the surroundings and all aspects of life, a press release from ICAR Nagaland Centre informed.

A total of 70 participants including students, school staff, farmers and ICAR Nagaland centre staff participated in the programme.

ICAR, Nagaland Center Joint Director, D J Rajkhowa highlighted doable activities which can be easily adopted by citizens for maintaining the surroundings and keeping the environment clean. He also emphasized on judicious use of natural resources such as water and forest and plantation of tress to make the environment safer. He also stressed upon conversion of waste material such as grass, banana leaf and kitchen waste materials into wealth by practicing vermicomposting and use of kitchen waste water for irrigation in kitchen gardening. He also suggested keeping separate dustbin for biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste materials, so that biodegradable waste can be used for making compost. During the programme, practical demonstration on vermicomposting was given to school children and participants. 

The Principal of GMS, Kukidolong extended gratitude to ICAR Nagaland centre for conducting such awareness programmes and expressed their conviction for maintaining clean and safer environment.
