JCC to ‘wait and watch’ common Naga platform

Dimapur, July 15 (MExN): To the recently floated Common Naga Platform, it is a “wait and watch policy” for the Joint Co-ordination Committee of the ENPO, Sumi Hoho, Kuki Ingpi and Kachari Tribal Council. The four organizations met on July 14 in Dimapur where the matter as well as that of the Intangki problem was discussed.

Referring to the Common Naga Platform, a note from the JCC today said “the JCC was not taken into confidence in its propose formation” and so has decided to adopt what the note called “wait an watch policy.”

“…during the formation of 'Common Naga Platform', the JCC was not informed either officially or otherwise. Hence, the JCC decided to adopt ‘wait and watch’ policy and that all tribal member under JCC shall adhere to this resolution till such time the JCC is convinced to review its resolution,” the note said. The committee also condemned what it claimed is the “one-sided and selective eviction” of “settlers” who have encroached into Ingtanki National Park. According to the committee, the resolution adopted at the State Zonal Council Hall on June 20 by the Naga tribal organizations, supported eviction of all encroachers that includes “Inavi/Naga united village, Beiumpuikam and the third party those who owned large farm within the national park.”

The JCC has urged the state government to apply the same yardstick “without communal and sectarian prejudices” for eviction or allotment of “settlement” if at all within the park.
