LS Poll abstention: Ahngs of Konyak villages pledge solidarity to ENPO, KU

Mon, April 16 (MExN): The Ahngs of Konyak villages have “solemnly pledge” their adherence to abstain from participating in the upcoming Lok Sabha election in solidarity with ENPO’s February 23 Chenmoho resolution and subsequent KU’s resolution on March 23.

“We do so in firm protest against the failure of both the State and Central Government to fulfil the promise of granting FNT (Frontier Nagaland Territory) as assured by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to the ENPO,” the traditional village chiefs stated in a ‘Pledge of Solidarity.’

“This unfulfilled commitment strikes at the heart of our trust in the governmental process and our collective aspirations,” they asserted.

“As the heads of our respective villages, we vow to ensure the full abstention of our subjects and people, standing in solidarity with the ENPO's call to abstain from voting,” the Anghs added.

The pledge further asserted that the action should not be taken lightly as it “serves as a powerful testament to our deep-seated resentment and protest against broken promises and unfulfilled obligations.”

“Hereafter, we shall also comply with the directives of the Konyak Civil Societies to initiate any course of actions against those subjects or individual failing to adhere with the ENPO (Eastern Nagaland Peoples' Organisation and Konyak Union’s (KU) resolution within our respective jurisdictions,” the Anghs added.
