Nagaland: ‘All business activities may resume as normal’

The Kohima Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) informed the public of Kohima that the CNCCI's indefinite shutter down across Nagaland has been called off.

In this connection, all business activities may resume as normal from the receipt of this communiqué here forth.

The KCCI president Kezhazer Angami and general secretary Henry Chisüte expressed its deepest appreciation to the business community, public and all mass based organisations for their cooperation, support and solidarity manifested during the period of shutter down.

KVYO reminds not to inflate prices of commodities 
The Kohima Village Youth Organization (KYO) stated that it recognised the pertinent issues of multiple taxation by anti-social elements, self-styled syndicates, unscrupulous individuals and “highly appreciates the initiatives carried forward by the Kohima Chamber of Commerce & Industry, a unit of Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industry”

The KVYO also acknowledged the Nagaland State Government's prompt response to the demands of the business community during its cabinet meeting held on 26th April, 2024 directing the Director General of Police, Nagaland in curbing illegal rampant taxation, extortion, kidnappings.

Further the organization fervently requested the State government to sincerely implement its policy based on the cabinet meeting as per DIPR report

The organization reiterated that undeliverable preconditions or datelines are an end rather than a beginning to a dialogue, “hence KVYO reminds all stakeholders that indefinite closure of business establishment is not the solution, but to uphold the value of dialogue in times of insecurity and to have an exploratory dialogue with the state government and other entities, and should seek out potential areas of common ground for the welfare of the business community and for the citizens of Kohima City

Stating that Kohima being the capital city of all Nagas, and which falls under the Kohima village traditional jurisdiction, the KVYO stated that it  will not allow any association, organization or unions to hijack the day to day activities bringing the city to a halt in the form of bandhs, which affects the productivity of the city and for which the lower strata of the society usually bears the brunt, further the organization asks the KCCI to open all its business establishments for the welfare of each and every citizen of Kohima.

The organization also reminded the business community not to inflate the prices of commodities Post “Shutter down” held on April 26, 2024.

This was stated in a release issued by KYO president Vituonyu Khezhie and general secretary Richard Dzuvichii.  

Wokha: The Wokha District Chamber Of Commerce & Industry (WDCCI), in conformity with CNCCI on the satisfied outcome of the charter of demands laid down to the government, the imposed state-wide indefinite shutter down stands lifted in the district from April 30. 

While acknowledging the general public for their support to the proposed cause, WDCCI further solicits the co-operation of the business community in the district as always, the WDCCI officials stated in a press release.
