All Ward Union Mokokchung Town (AWUMT) today inspected the ongoing repairing works of Natinoal Highway-2 that passes through Mokokchung town.
AWUMT team led by their president Limanungsang also met the Executive Engineer of National Highways, Mokokchung Division and the contractors, Trident Enterprises where they exchanged their concerns and views.
The president, meanwhile, said that the contractors today gave their assurance that the ongoing works would be completed before Christmas if they do not face mechanical problems with their machineries.
It was also informed that the contractors have agreed to broaden the carpeted area of the road surface as well as build proper drainage, including cross drainage.
AWUMT president also said that the contractors have agreed to build footpaths for pedestrians along the highway where possible.
Meanwhile, AWUMT has informed the public to cooperate with the workers for the timely completion of the ongoing works and informed all the concerned to obey the Deputy Commissioner’s order to remove building materials, off road vehicles and other moveable properties kept along NH-2 stretching from Km 117 (Sewak Gate) to Km 156 (DEF) Mokokchung immediately.
