New hotels, lodges to come up: NHL

Dimapur: MLA Tiameren, Chairman of Nagaland Hotels Limited (NHL) convened an interactive meeting over lunch with the press officials at Hotel Saramati today. The Chairman informed that the plan to get together with the press officials was to celebrate the Gold Medal received by Nagaland Hotels Limited in Geneva for Foundation for Excellence in Business Practice. 

Hotel Saramati and Hotel Japfu were selected from 30 hotels from around the globe. Tiameren informed that the objectives of the foundation was to communicate between people at large and recognize and solve problems of different continents in the country. It also aims to impart best management of all kinds and make efforts to improve the quality service to the people. 

The meeting also discussed about the expansion of the two hotels under the Nagaland Hotels Limited. A long term policy has been initiated to increase the number of hotels and plans were made to manage immediate number of hotels and tourist lodges in Dimapur, Kohima and Mokokchung in same line as Hotel Saramati and Hotel Japfu. It was also mentioned that the first priority of NHL was to improve tourism which can in turn improve resources in the state. 

Nagaland Hotels Limited now has a new Managing Director, Taku Jamir, who will be working full time, unlike in the past where Government executives were in charge. 

NHL Chairperson, when asked whether there are plans for renovating and improvements, said, “Better food items, better furniture, improved living rooms and facilities, music and improved security are all in process”. 

When asked if RAP should be lifted totally for tourists to be able to get easy access which will sequentially be an augment and business oriented for hotels in Nagaland, Tiameren pointed out that unless the law and order is secured, the Government of Nagaland is worried to lift RAP.  He further mentioned that he was happy to know that all Government and semi Government undertakings will have an association to voice their problems and will be joining the meeting with a good proposal. 

NHL has no new major projects so far because whatever they have is not enough to collaborate with big companies but, are positively in the stage of arranging such projects. Earlier, Tiameren mentioned that Nagaland was projected splendidly through the War Cemetery during the foundation ceremony.
