PUGHOBOTO, AUGUST 12 (MExN): Civil Society Organizations of Pughoboto town organised a silent procession on August 11 demanding setting up a State Bank of India branch in Pughoboto. 

Short speeches were delivered by Mughashe Achumi, President, Pughoboto Phughi Kiphimi Kuqhakulu; Holika Wotsa, General Secretary, Sumi Totimi Hoho Pughoboto; Kivika Swu, President Pughoboto Town Youth Organisation; Ivulho Wotsa, GB, Pughoboto; and Hokiqhe G Sheqi, Vice Chairman, Pughoboto Ad-hoc Town Committee. 

The programme was chaired by Qhelito Sheqi and Ikuto Swu, Associate Pastor Youth, Pughoboto Town Baptist Church invoked the programme.

A press release from the organizers of the rally informed that in Pughoboto Sub-Division, there are about 23 government departments functioning with the total number of more than 1,100 government employees with the transaction of about Rs 3.5 crores (approx) as salary per month.

Due to non availability of nationalized bank i.e SBI at Pughoboto Town, approximately about 25,000 account holders of Pughoboto Sub-Division are scattered in different branches which creates an inconvenience to the public, it stated. 

The Civil Society Organisations comprising of Pughoboto Ad-hoc Town Committee, Sumi Totimi Hoho Pughoboto, Pughoboto Students Union and Pughoboto Town Youth Organisation and citizens of Pughoboto urged the government to set up SBI Branch at Pughoboto Town within 45 days. Failing which the second phase of agitation will be processed, they cautioned.
