AR debates on human rights norms

Dimapur, July 17 (MExN): The Assam Rifles Inter Sector Debate competition on Human Rights was organised at the ARTC&S, Sukhovi, on July 15 and 16 last, which saw participation from nine teams from AR Sectors and one team from the ARTC&S. 

The topic for the debate was ‘To strictly observe human rights norms in all cases of security concerns is not possible’. Brigadier Pramod Behl, Commandant of ARTC&S, was the chief guest on the occasion.

A total of 40 speakers debated on the topic in Hindi and English, with twenty speakers each for and against the motion. The main aim of this debate competition was to sensitise the troops on human rights and the importance of their strict observance while dealing with the public.

The team of ARTC&S was adjudged the best team and declared first, while the team from 9 Sector Assam Rifles was declared the runners-up. The Assam Rifles team was also selected in the debate competition and all three teams will take part in the Central Police Organisation’s North East Zone Debate Competition scheduled to be held at the ARTC&S Sukhovi on July 29.
