Hekani Jakhalu, NDPP candidate for Dimapur III addressed her third and final campaign rally from Kushiabill-Darogajan local ground on February 23. In her speech, she vowed to stand on her four key points of working for the betterment of youths, women empowerment, making Dimapur III a model constituency and for the minority communities.

She mentioned that her experience with working with the youths has given her the determination to improve their lives through inculcating skill development training and the like. For women, she noted that it was unfortunate that there were no women in the highest decision making body of the state so far. As such, her decision to stand for election was made based on the need to fight for empowerment of women and be a beacon for others to follow.

She also emphasised on the need to transform her Dimapur III as a model constituency, as it has been neglected for so long by past representatives. These included betterment of education, healthcare, water, roads, electricity etc.

As for the minority communities, Jakhalu stated that till today, our representatives have been elected with the help of minority communities but they have been forgotten post election. It was time that the constituency elect a leader who will work for a common vision and dream for all the people irrespective of their background, she added.

Thus as the state goes to the polls on 27, she made an appeal to the people to vote for the right leader. “Fight for your rights, for your future and for Dimapur III.”

The programme was chaired by Tohoshe Awomi, Working President NDPP of Dimapur III A/C while invocation was given by Kughavi Katty, pastor of Sumi Baptist Church Kushiabill. Loveson Leivon, United Baptist Church Kushibill, at the conclusion gave the benediction.
